Timing
For example: Right sailor step
- 1behind (right) · weight moves onto it
- &side (left) · weight moves onto it
- 2side (right) · weight moves onto it
How to do it
Swing the foot behind the other on 1, step the other foot out to the side on &, then put the first foot down a little out to its side on 2. Your body sways slightly with the cross.
A sailor step barely travels. It can also turn, usually a quarter.
On a step sheet
- Starting foot: the foot that leads the step
- Turn: how far it turns, and which way (optional)
