Timing
For example: Step right forward
- 1step (right) · weight moves onto it
How to do it
A step always takes weight. When it's done you're standing on that foot and the other one is free. That's the difference between a step and a touch, which only taps the floor.
Step sheets tell you which foot and which way: step right to the side, step left forward. Keep steps about shoulder-width or smaller. Big steps make you late for the next count.
On a step sheet
- Stepping foot: the foot that leads the step
- Direction: which way it travels (forward, to the side, toward a diagonal...)
- Turn: how far it turns, and which way (optional)
