Timing
For example: Right toe strut forward
- 1toe (right) · no weight
- 2heel (right) · weight moves onto it
How to do it
Put the ball of the foot down with the heel lifted on 1, then lower the heel on 2. That's when your weight moves onto it.
Struts make a slow, deliberate walk. They're often done forward, back or in a strutting jazz box.
On a step sheet
- Stepping foot: the foot that leads the step
- Direction: which way it travels (forward, to the side, toward a diagonal...)
